The Sugar Bowl Challenge.

Here's another card. Well it was weekend so I could get a few cards done, hubby took the kids out to the park so I had a chance to play!

This card is for the Sugar Bowl Challenge. I actually rotated the sketch (gosh, I'm normally by the book kinda girl! lol). The Sugar Nellie stamp is "Rory". I'm 'trying' with my shading colours! practice makes perfect eh?

Items used:-
  • Cardstock - Papermill
  • Paper - K & C (voyage)

  • Stamp - Sugar Nellie & Woodware (double stamped in white then black for an effect)
  • Brads, lace - my stash

Just Magnolia Challenge.

Gosh, how many Christmas cards does one have to make? - think I better get my butt in gear - so here is another one to add to my collection. This is for the Just Magnolia Challenge click here for details.

This was another card I liked doing (haven't done this before) but decided to make a wreath. I ended up with a sore thumb punching out all those holly leaves but I think it was worth while. The leaves were mounted in silicon glue to give them a 3d effect. The card really does look a lot better in real life! - What is everyones secret to getting a really good picture that shows off every element???

Items used:-

  • Stamp - Magnolia obviously (one of my fav)
  • Punches - small tag and holly from Woodware
  • Papers - K & Co and a printed one for the background.
  • Card - Papermill base and mirror behind Tilda.
  • Ribbon - my stash (had a go at platting to be different)
  • Mesh - pinched from husband - (its plaster board bonding strips for the cracks) that was inked with versa mark and twinkling silver embossing powder on it - it works!!!
  • Glitter - all over the holly - to hide any silicon left exposed but doesn't show up :(
  • Berries - recycled beads.
  • Peeloffs - gotta use them up.

Colour Create Challenge.

Good morning, hope you all enjoyed your extra hour in bed!

This was a great challenge, I thought it would be so hard to do, but infact it was quite easy. I loved the fact that even using the same colour, you could enhance your picture with layers / embossing etc. Click here for the challenge and to view the DT cards.

Items used:-
  • Martha Stewart - doily lace and frond
  • Woodware - daisy and butterfly
  • Cuttlebug swirls embossing board
  • Stamp - Whiff of Joy
  • Glitter - White dazzle (inside of flowers and butterfly (honestly it is there))
  • Papermill - Card base & pearlised paper
  • Ribbon - my stash.

Simon Says Stamp Challenge.

The Simon Says Challenge is Get Well Soon - click here for details of the DT's examples. Their examples are so inspiring.

I kept this simple as I embossed the background card, I thought it would be too fussy to add anything else. Poor little bug - I couldn't make him go green so had to make him got a little pink! lol.

Cuttlebug embossing board - Victoriana

Stamp - High Hopes

Colours - Whispers Brush Markers

Nesties - Oval Scallop

A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge

A Spoon Full of Sugar challenge is a sketch created by Debbie details here for the design and the DT's cards.
I, probably like a lot of crafters, don't do the male cards very well, women you can and embelishments to your hearts content but men, flowers? not really = so I layered up but kept it quite plain and simple. I tried to "ground" the little chap by sitting him on some grass
Stamp - Whiff of Joy
Papers - Paper Mill Kendal, K & Co.
Nesties - Labels (?)
Brads - Papermania
Colours - Whispers Brush Markers (neat and watercoloured)

Cute Card Thursday.

I know it was meant to be spooky - but if you look at the house, isn't that a bit spooky? I do think that the wizard and dragon are kinda cute.

Click here for details of the challenge

House - Cuttlebug embossing board cut out
Stamps - Stamposaurus.
Background and dragon - Cosmic Shimmer misting sprays,
Beard - Polar White Flowersoft
glitter for the moon.

Friday Sketchers & Three Clovers Design

Well looking at the weather outside, it is very much Autumn - the leaves and rain are falling and it's getting slightly nippy now - (think I need to get me vest on lol).

So with that in mind, I thought why not use autumn as my base for this card - which covers both the Friday Sketchers challenge click here for details and also Three Clovers Design click here for details.

Creative Inspiration Challenge

On Wednesday the Creative Inspiration team had another challenge click here for details. It was a straight forward challenge of a theme "Family". I thought about this challenge, but felt I didn't want to do the usual. I have a best friend who has become my family and thus, my card. Hope this is still acceptable !?

I, probably like most you, have items in a drawer or in a cupboard that you've bought and not used. Mine was this stamp. The little girls looked quite old fashioned so I kept with that these of using water colouring in cepia tones - what do you think? I made the flowers (again) but added a little glitter to the middles. I don't have many sentiment stamps so thought I'd write this one! - "friends are the family we choose ourselves" Go on admit it, how many of you would like to have chosen some of your family?

Paper - Paper Mill - Kendal.
Backing paper - EK Success.
Flower - X Cut punch
Leaves - Martha Stewart Punch (brand new and in love with lol)
Stamp - Penny Black.
Colouring in - Whispers Brush Markers.

Friday Sketchers.

OMG I don't know what happened, I've managed to get a few cards made ! in my household its rare that I can go to make a card without an audience or a little helper! I have really enjoyed getting into the blogging lifestyle and making cards - this is my last one for this week which is for Friday Sketchers, details here for the sketch to follow.
I'm not very good at ripping paper and had several attempts ! Since it's quite cold outside, I wanted to try and keep it quite summery but with a hint of Autumn colours - I think it worked but what do you think?
I've used this Magnolia image on several cards, and I think it's my favourite (it's my newest one !!!), my nestie are a must - (don't think I've done many cards without them), a peel off gold boarder and a punch scraps used in the corners.
Hope you've all had a relaxing weekend. Hugs,

Colour Create.

Wow, if you like a challenge then this is for you. The Colour Create challenge, details here is for you to make a card that is to use the colours red, yellow, black and white with the option of adding flowers and checks.

I thought I'd go quite simple for this as I'm still not confident enough yet to put "my" artistic twist on things yet lol!!

Just basic coloured card used with a Friskars corner photo punch, Penny Black image coloured in with Promarkers and stickles added to the wings for that little sparkle. Obviously the flower was already in the image (no I'm not cheating) - the check was made by marker pen and a Gelly Roll glaze pen coloured round the edge of a ... you guessed it a nestie he he.

Hope you like. Hugs,

Just Magnolia

The Just Magnolia Challenge has a fab sketch click here for details. Like many others, I find it quite difficult to do male cards, but thought I'd give it a go with this one.

I'm getting a little braver with the different contrasting colours that I'm using lol.

The papers are Papermania, Nestie scalloped circle and Woodware punch for the leaves and the dragonflies.

Edwin coloured using Promarkers.

Lili of the Valley Challenge.

This weeks Lili of the Valley Challenge is to create a Christmas card for a child.

I had thought of going all cutsy and fun, but then I found these stamps in my drawer which I thought would be a good way of teaching the Christmas Carol. Now how many of us forget the words once we get passed 6 Geese a laying? Yes I must admit I'm one of those also. Hence the folding book - neat eh? I really enjoyed inking these up and colouring them in, although it did take a little time to do this one.

I kept it quite basic in repeating the images basis but in "real life" it looks a lot better!!

Spooky / Halloween

Again, yes, three in one day - (it's just that I've got my hands on the computer first lol).

This card is to try and fit two challenges a Spoon Full of Sugar and Simon Says Challenge Halloween / spooky - It's not my usual style but thought it was a little fun to use my son's crafting bits!

The background was created using a gold Crayola Spider Pen (it leaves a sticky trail as you move it along - the skeletons were die cuts from a sizzix sizzlit, the spiders and webs were stickers from long ago and the headstones just cut randomly (as you would have guessed he he!)

Suppose I'll have to go and make tea for the brood.

Hugs Sarahx

Cute Card Thursday.

Hello again, Cute Card Thursday Challenge asked for you to put charms on your card. I made this card using some old papers from my stash but with a Magnolia stamp that I have only just got. I tried watercolouring using Whispers brush markers - I'm trying to find a colouring technique I like the best lol!! The Ribbon again was from my stash and the little angle charm attached was a gift from a friend.

I tried to move away from the usual square card for this challenge - I wasn't happy with my first attempt so tried to be a little different in shaping the front - what do you think?

Passion for Promarkers

Hello there, As you will see I'm quite new to doing the challenges and saw the Passion for Promarkers Challenge and since I had some promarkers, thought why not?

Click here for the Challenge - two papers, three shapes and a ribbon. Well what do ya think? Yes I know I need to get the photo a little clearer and lighter (I'm working on it lol)

I used Papermania papers, Promarkers, nesties and a ribbon (coloured with the Promarkers to tie in with the colours and also a dare I say it a ..... peel off ..... there I did it, also coloured with the promarkers).

Magnolia with hand made flowers

Hi there, hope your all enjoying the start of a new week!!!! I thought I'd try and link my Just Magnolia challenge - creating hand made flowers hopefully done correctly with a helping hand from Liz - thank you. Hope you like it.

I used my oval nesties (0bviously) - the top layer put through the Christmas bauble cuttlebug embossing folder - Martha Stewart doily punch boarder. The roses were created by a Quick cutz flower punch and curled round to form the roses. I don't have any glimmer mist so tried to use a mica pigment mixed spray - It didn't quite have the right effect but waste not want not!! lol

Sweet Magnolia Sketch Challenge

My card was created for the Sweet Magnolia's sketch challenge. I know its "to the book" but you know I'm still very new to all this.

I really have got the passion for Magnolia Stamps and just love them all, I've only a few in my collection but hopefully will be buying more soon!!

The papers are from Papermania (an old stash) and the flowers and brads were from the Paper Cella - the sentiment was individual letters stamped onto a oval nestie cutout. The ribbon was from an old friend. Tilda was coloured using my Brushmarkers and stickles for her wings.

Hope your all enjoying your weekend. Hopefully I'll be able to try and get another challenge done. Sarah x
